What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a Japanese manual therapy that works with gentle, focused pressure on the body. The treatment supports the body’s natural balance by paying attention to breathing, posture, and energy pathways (meridians).
During pregnancy, shiatsu is carefully adapted to what your body and mind need at that moment.

Shiatsu is an holistic and complementary therapy that supports your well-being, but for any concerns or doubts, your midwife care remains the primary resource.
Practical information
A Shiatsu pregnancy massage is given on a clothed body. Please come wearing with comfortable clothing.
The treatment takes place on a futon ( Japanese mat) and uses pillows that support the body in an adequate manner.
The cost of a shiatsu treatment is often partially refunded by health insurers in their extras packages. Check here

Every session is different, shaped by the stage of the pregnancy and your physical and emotional needs at that moment.
I have personally experienced the healing power of Shiatsu during pregnancy, both as a practitioner and pregnant person. After a session, I felt a sense of peace, safety and deeper connection with myself and the baby. The body listens, adapts and tensions tend to disappear.
Receiving a shiatsu pregnancy massage in my practice in Utrecht is also an invitation to deepen your understanding of your own body-mind relationship.
